Starting with the spring 2025 courses, the invoicing process at Vantaa Adult Education Institute will be renewed. You will receive an online payment link via email to pay for your course fee.

The payment link will be sent once it is confirmed that the course is starting. At the latest, it is sent right after the course has started. Using the payment link, you can pay the course fee within 14 days. Alternatively, you can log in to your personal account on ilmonet.fi and make the payment under the section “Online Payments.”

Please note that the payment link details must not be copied to your online bank, as this will cause the payment to fail and it will not be registered as paid to the Adult Education Institute.

If you do not pay using the first link, you will receive a second payment link, which will also be valid for 14 days. If the invoice remains unpaid, you will receive an invoice by post or via your online bank, depending on how you have chosen to receive invoices from the Adult Education Institute.

In Helsinki, we sing our way to Christmas. Join us in singing traditional and newer Christmas songs with others. There are free events taking place throughout Helsinki.
On Wednesday 4 December, Opistotalo in Helsinki is filled with Christmas workshops, performances and exhibitions at the Light and Joy Christmas event, which has already become a tradition.
In Maunula, you can craft various Christmas decorations. On 29 November, we'll be making elves and angels from recycled materials, and on 14 December, we’ll create traditional Christmas decorations at Maunula House's Christmas Carnival for the whole family.

In Espoo, we’ll celebrate Christmas gift-making in the spirit of this year’s education theme on Tuesday, 3 December. In guided workshops, you can create small Christmas gifts. You can also enjoy music performances by students and enjoy sweet holiday treats in café.

In Vantaa, the concerts by the Adult Education Institute’s choirs and music groups will immerse listeners in the Christmas feeling. Leave your everyday worries behind and come and enjoy Christmas music with family and friends. On 30 November, the singing and instrumental groups will perform at Myyrinki. The Christmas matinée by the music groups will take place at Peltola School on 3 December. There will also be a Little Elves music event for the youngest ones in Myyrinki on 11 December.

Adult education center’s operations continue as before: everybody can enroll on the courses they desire and themselves decide on the goal-orientedness of their participation. Some of the courses will never turn into study-credit courses. The freedom of adult education center’s studies will remain in the future as well.

What does competence-based learning mean in adult education center's courses?

Traditionally, competence has not been assessed in our courses. Recognizing competence in study credit courses means that these courses have clearly stated goals, evaluation methods and criteria according to which the teacher evaluates the students who want to receive study credits from the course. Not all students of the course automatically receive study credits.

You do not have to aim for study credits

Anybody can enroll in a study credit course, but you don’t have to do any study credits. Students that aim for study credits and those who do not may participate in the same course. Common to all the participants is, however, that the course teaches all the issues specified in the learning goals. Also such skills that the course description states the students must master before attending the course apply to all the students. These skills will not be taught to any of the students during the course.

If you do not wish to collect study credits but are interested in more goal-oriented studying, you are welcome to participate in the course. At the beginning of the course, all participants can still decide whether they want to aim for study credits or not. You have to give an official consent aim for credits, but you can cancel your consent during the course if you change your mind.
