Short courses and events in August

Although the autumn term officially begins in September, studies at adult education centres in the capital region kick off already in August. There are plenty of short courses and events on offer from early August until the first week of September.

August is a great time to try something new or ease back into a hobby. Empower yourself through exercise, nutrition, nature, dance—or even studying space—and find a course that suits you! Many courses last just a few hours or days, making it easy to join even with a busy schedule. There are also intensive courses to quickly brush up on skills, such as languages.

Come and learn, get inspired and enjoy the late summer – at the adult education centre, August is anything but quiet. Secure your spot and make sure the course takes place – sign up now!

Events and Atmosphere Before the Autumn Term

The Night of the Arts kicks off the autumn season of events at Helsingin työväenopisto on 14 August. One of the highlights is MAITOLABRA, a visual arts workshop where you can try joyful and easy marbling on paper. The non-stop workshop takes place on the hour at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Kanneltalo.

The Night of the Arts also marks the return of the hugely popular community sing-alongs, this time with the theme “Kesän muistoja.” Singing teacher Satu Luomajoki will lead the joyful session from 6 to 7 p.m. in Kanneltalo Auditorium.

You can also meet Vantaan aikuisopisto at the Why so Myrtsi event in Myyrmäki on Thursday 21 August and at Mahdollisuuksien tori in Jokiniemi on 6 September.

Express yourself through art and crafts – Join the Espoon Työväenopisto's Open House on Espoo Day, August 29th, from 11 AM to 1 PM.
